Location Data & Permissions
Last updated: November 2026
Overview
CORPS Online requests access to your device's precise location solely to support the Real-Time Investigation System (RTIS) — a feature that records investigator movement paths during active paranormal investigation sessions. This page explains exactly when location data is collected, how it is used, and how you can control or delete it.
When Location Access Is Requested
Location permission is requested only when you navigate to an active RTIS investigation session and tap the "Track My Location" toggle. The app will prompt you to grant permission at that point. Location data is never collected in the background, at app launch, or outside of an active investigation session.
What We Collect
- GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude)
- Accuracy radius (in meters)
- Timestamp of each recorded point
- Elapsed time since the session started
We do not collect altitude, bearing, speed, or any other sensor data beyond the above.
How We Use Location Data
Location data is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Recording your movement path on the investigation timeline map
- Allowing your team to correlate evidence with physical locations at the time of capture
- Displaying investigator paths in the RTIS Timeline Analysis view
Location data is never used for advertising, behavioral profiling, sold to third parties, or shared outside of your investigation team.
Storage
Location tracks are stored locally on your device using on-device storage (IndexedDB) and are synced to our servers as part of your investigation case record when an internet connection is available. Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
Your Controls
- Deny permission: You can deny location permission when prompted. All other CORPS Online features remain fully functional.
- Revoke permission: You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings (Android: Settings → Apps → CORPS Online → Permissions; iOS/browser: Settings → Privacy → Location Services).
- Stop mid-session: Disable the "Track My Location" toggle at any time during an investigation to stop collection immediately.
- Delete your data: Delete any investigation case from within the app to permanently remove all associated location tracks, both on-device and from our servers.
Retention
Location data is retained as part of your investigation case record for as long as the case exists in your account. Deleting a case permanently removes all associated location data. You may also contact us at support@corpsparanormal.com to request deletion of your location data at any time.
